Fun In The Summertime At The Rock Ranch

I just received an exciting email from The Rock Ranch. They will be open Tuesday-Saturday, July 14-25, for 2 weeks for special fun in the summer time at the Rock Ranch. If you have not heard of The Rock Ranch, it is a 1250-acre working cattle ranch, owned by the founder of Chick-fil-A, Truett Cathy. It is located south of Atlanta in Barnesville, Georgia. Although it is a bit of a drive from Atlanta, it is well worth it. The Rock Ranch features a variety of “agritainment” opportunities for kids of all ages.
Last fall, my son’s Cub Scout pack went to have some fun, but our entire family ended up having a blast. From my parents to my 4 year old daughter, there were activities for all of us. My daughter had her first driving lesson on the Kids Gators. Good thing it will be a while before she is eligible for her driving permit, because it wasn’t pretty. Both kids enjoyed the Corn Box, where they could jump and burry themselves in loads and loads of corn. I ended up finding everywhere when it was bath time that night. The entire family liked the Corn Maze, where we (of course) got lost, the birds of prey show and the pumpkin cannon. Since the activities change from time to time, not all the things we enjoyed will be open this summer. On the bright side, there will be new things to explore and have fun with.

Admission is $8 per person, with children age 2 and under free. You can buy concessions at the Chuck Wagon Café, but you are allowed to bring in coolers and picnics. So for a fun day that won’t cost a bunch, pack up the cooler with sandwiches, drinks and fruit and head down to The Rock Ranch in Barnesville. I know we will.
